Tridonic leads North East manufacturers in Best Practice Workshop

Tridonic UK hosted a cohort of 23 people from 10 local manufacturers across the North East to share best practice on Lean manufacturing.

The event, organised in collaboration with Business Growth Durham and RTC North, featured a ‘continuous improvement’ panel of experts and was designed to support businesses struggling to implement lean principles.

Also included in the specialists panel was Tridonic’s Lean and continuous improvements engineer, Daniel Dimitrov, who delivered a presentation and shared the Lean projects recently completed by the firm.

Daniel said: “Our Lean culture and continuous improvement approach have been refined over a number of years so we’re in a great position to share our learnings to help other businesses to eliminate wasted time within operations and cut costs, while enhancing the quality of their products and services. People play a key role in the successful adoption of these processes, so we were also able to discuss Tridonic’s Lean culture and our practice of developing our team in order to infuse lean principles across all levels of our business.”

Guests were then invited to a tour of Tridonic’s site in Spennymoor, which comprises 6,400m2 of manufacturing, R&D and distribution space for the firm.

Tina Taylor from Tridonic, ran the factory tour. She said: “The event was a great chance to showcase some of the enhancements we’ve made toward leaner and more sustainable manufacturing processes.

As well as sharing best practice and knowledge from businesses across the area, we were also able to discuss the important investment we have been making into the local education sector – particularly with regards to STEM and apprenticeships for young people hoping to access jobs in manufacturing and engineering.

It is important to galvanise our peers across the sector so we are all working smarter, leaner and more sustainably – as well as supporting our local young people to access jobs and learn skills to ensure the future success of the industry.”
