International lighting design consultancy Nulty has announced that it has acquired KLAASEN Lighting Design to broaden its geographical footprint and bring a 40-year strong brand into the fold.
The strategic acquisition will significantly enhance Nulty’s presence across Europe and Asia, particularly in Singapore where the Martin Klaasen led firm has been an influential player for over 30 years. The decision to integrate KLAASEN into Nulty is the result of a long-standing relationship between the two globally renowned practices, who share a common goal to deliver innovative architectural lighting design, through collaborative client relationships.
KLAASEN will be integrated into the Nulty team, with Founder Martin Klaasen assuming a position of Managing Partner, and undertaking a key leadership role to manage the transition. A lighting designer, speaker and highly respected industry contributor, Martin will work closely with Founder Paul Nulty and Managing Partner Mark Vowles to oversee projects in the Asia-Pacific region and maintain the highest level of creative work and customer service.
Jordan Faust will take on the role of Managing Partner for the Lisbon studio, which will be merged into Nulty to form a European division. A trained lighting designer and landscape architect, Jordan has produced lighting schemes for major brands and developments across Europe, Asia and Australia. He will work in partnership with Ellie Coombs, Managing Partner of Nulty’s London studio, to gain new project work throughout Europe, drawing upon the team’s multisector design expertise and wide network of architecture and design clients.
Paul Nulty, Founder, Nulty comments; “This announcement marks an exciting new chapter as we welcome KLAASEN into our Nulty family. As we look to consolidate our position as a market leading brand and build alliances in key markets, Martin and his team will fuel our growth plan and provide an injection of new talent and specialist expertise. We’re delighted to have them on board to take Nulty to greater heights.”
Martin Klaasen, Founder, KLAASEN, said; “This is a gratifying moment in my career and a moment where I can with great confidence and enthusiasm step into the future – one that will be exponentially multiplied by the integration of our two experienced teams. Both Paul and I have had an aligned vision for a long time, and therefore it makes total sense for us to enter this next phase together, with KLAASEN now an intrinsic part of the Nulty story.”
