At Light + Building 2024, Nichia, the LED manufacturer and pioneer of high-brightness blue and white LEDs, is showcasing several ground-breaking products, including the Nichia Light Cluster™ Type L and a new Cube Direct Mountable Chip which introduces a novel feature of efficient horizontal light distribution. Both solutions provide an unrivalled soft, low-glare quality of light and enable luminaire manufacturers to significantly reduce the thickness and weight of lighting fixture designs.

Nichia’s Light Cluster™ Type L is an innovative LED module that paves the way for a significant reduction of at least 60 percent in luminaire thickness and over 30 percent reduced fixture weight compared to conventional modules, without compromising uniformity of the luminous surface. With its ultra-wide light distribution, the solution delivers bright evenly lit illumination which is comfortable and glare-free using far less power than conventional indirect lighting. Light intensity is delivered directly above and diagonally above the module.

Nichia’s Cube Direct Mountable Chip marks a significant advancement in LED technology by employing horizontal light distribution to create a softer, less glaring light. This solution enables designers to produce luminaires that are more compact. With its ability to immerse spaces in gentle light yet with high luminous flux density, the Cube Direct Mountable Chip enhances lighting design flexibility, enables reductions in fixture weight and material usage, improves building safety, and supports the development of environmentally sustainable lighting solutions.

Dr Ulf Meiners, Managing Director of Nichia Europe, remarked: “We’re excited to present our innovative solutions at Light + Building 2024, where our focus is on transforming both the quality and form of lighting. Our latest class-leading advancements in LED technology not only allow luminaire manufacturers to produce sleeker, lightweight, eco-friendly fixtures, but also enhance comfort and well-being with soft, glare-free, vivid illumination.”

Other highlights at the Nichia booth (D60, Hall 8.0) include the H6 Series LED, which offers unrivalled sharpness and high-fidelity color reproduction whilst maintaining high efficacy. Perfect for indoor settings where the quality of lighting is vital, the portfolio extends from mid-power to chip-on-board solutions Additionally, our 1800K LED range (757 Series – 3030, 19 Series – 3535, and Direct Mountable Chip) serves as a mercury-free, energy-efficient alternative to HPS lamps, accurately recreating the warm HPS lighting ambiance while offering superior longevity and efficiency. Completing Nichia’s product lineup is the award-winning Dynasolis™, a color and spectrum tuning technology designed to enhance comfort and well-being by harmonizing circadian rhythms and color quality, especially in indoor environments.

Visitors can also attend presentations on technology trends from industry partners and Nichia’s technical experts.
